Initially I thought this hold was rather bland when compared to some of the other Uprising products. However after climbing on a couple of problems that used the Doomerang I quickly appreciated the smaller more subtle features of the design, something bigger holds normally don’t have. First off, the long narrow shape allows it to be placed where allot of other holds cannot. And with a creative enough route setter this can result is some wicked moves. Secondly if you really place it well, getting the angle perfect and making sure the textured surface gets used just right, it can be absolutely horrible. And just to be clear horrible in this case means awesome. My colleges and I have made some truly desperate moves to this hold and some classic sequences off it. Over all it’s a great hold to have in your collection, and in my opinion flourishes when placed in the middle of a hard sequence. Also it’s got the word “Doom” in its name that makes it so much cooler when describing it to climbers.

We waited to release this hold for the first round of the National Indoor Bouldering series, to give the punters something new to try. It certainly tested our women’s finalists! A superb shape which can offer a lot of variety, which is what we want from a big hold! Its in our boulder cave, on our routes, it just wants to go every where. Another must to any edition.

This thing kicks my arse on the 40 … I love it and hate it because of that . It may not be suited to a 40 degree wall or it could just be that I’m a weakling … One day I will conquer this thing but at the moment I really have to bare down on it just to pull on . No doubt a five star hold on a less steep wall but for me it’s too hard .

A really awesome hold, so much versatility and the dual tex is really grippy
the extra screw holes make sure that this hold does not spin on the wall even if you are swinging off one end of it.
